HD indoor video camera
Installation
- Make sure you have access to your modem and a power point. If you don’t have a WPS capable modem, skip step 2 and see the ‘Ethernet install‘ instructions below
- Login to the morepork.nz/portal on your computer or tablet. We recommend you use an up to date browser, ideally Firefox, Safari or Chrome.
- Make sure your computer/tablet is connected to the same WiFi network you want to connect your video camera to.

- Connect your video camera to power using the supplied power cable in an area close to your modem.
- Make sure the flashing red LED shows on your video camera before you continue, this may take 10 – 20 seconds.
- Enable WPS on your modem by holding down the button for 2-3 seconds.
- Next, press and hold the WPS button on the back of your video camera until the LED light on the front is flashing blue – it may flash read or blue first, don’t worry, this is normal. The video camera will remain flashing blue while it connects to your modem, this can take a minute or two.
- The LED on your video camera will begin flashing green and then go solid green once it’s connected to your modem. When you see the solid green LED, your video camera has successfully paired to your modem.
- While you are waiting for this, make sure your control panel is connected to WiFi, if you haven’t already done so.
- Log into the web portal by visiting morepork.nz/portal to set up your video camera.
- Click ‘Video‘. If this is your first video device, click ‘Add camera to this account‘ then install. If it’s not your first video device, click ‘Settings‘ then ‘Add Video Device‘
Note – your camera may require a firmware upgrade. It will automatically do this as part of installation, just follow the on screen prompts. - Make sure your computer is on the same WIFI network as your camera then it should display on screen.
- If you see ‘No new cameras were found’, enter the 12-digit MAC address that can be found on the bottom of your video camera and your camera will appear.
- Once the video camera has been successfully added check out the video by clicking ‘Live Video‘. It may take a couple of minutes to load, and then you’ll see live footage. Adjust the position of the camera until you’re happy with the view it captures.
- To add another video camera, go to the ‘Video’ tab and choose ‘Settings’.
More Information
The HD Indoor video camera records video clips when triggered by your customised settings.
It uses your home WiFi connection to upload the clips to the Morepork app and web portal and stores them securely in the cloud, and can alert you that there are new clips to watch. You can change your video camera settings to record additional clips at any time.
You can also stream live footage from your video camera from the Morepork app and web portal. The video camera is infrared so it works at night and has a viewing range of six metres in the dark.
The HD Indoor video camera is great for places you might want to monitor in real time such as pet areas, kids play areas and living areas or any area where an intruder is likely to pass through or spend time like hallways and living areas.
- Choose a place with good WiFi strength within reach of a power point.
- You may want your indoor video camera in the busiest part of the house, where most activity occurs.
- If you have pets, the indoor video camera is ideal for monitoring areas they have access to as motion detection is disabled by default.
- To move your indoor video camera, just unplug and reposition it, then plug it back in and wait for the solid green light. You can experiment and move it as often as you like.

Having trouble installing your Morepork indoor video camera?
- Make sure you waited for the light to turn from red, to flashing green, to solid green.
- Make sure you are using the same WiFi network on your laptop/computer that you want to connect your video camera too.
- When setting up your WiFi, make sure you followed the prompt to unplug your camera from the power and then reconnect it. If you didn’t, repeat this step.

If you don’t have a WPS capable modem, you can connect your HD indoor video camera to your WiFi network via ethernet.
There is an ethernet adaptor in the box, but you will need your own ethernet cable.
Connect to WiFi:
- Plug the ethernet adaptor provided into the back of your camera.
- Connect an ethernet cable to the adaptor and plug into your modem.
- Once you’ve plugged in the ethernet cable, plug in the power cord. Make sure you connect your video camera in the correct order: first modem, then power.
- Leave your camera for a minute or two while it powers up. Wait for the light on the front of the camera to turn on and change from red to flashing green to solid green. This may take a couple of minutes.
- In the web portal on your computer or tablet, go to the ‘Video’ tab and click the link ‘Add camera to this account’. If this is not your first video device, click ‘Settings‘ then ‘Add Video Device‘.
- Follow the on-screen steps to set up your camera. If you see ‘No new cameras were found’, enter the 12 digit mac address from the bottom of your HD indoor video camera.
- Next – you’ll need to set up your wireless network so your camera will work via WiFi. In the web portal click ‘Set Up Wireless‘, and select your WiFi network. Note – if you have any special characters (i.e. ! * ? -) in your WiFi name or password, you will need to remove these to allow your video camera to connect.
- To make sure the camera is connected to your WiFi network, unplug the power and ethernet cables. Reconnect the power only, and let the camera set itself up again. This will take a minute or two. You’ll see the solid green light again when it’s done.
- While you are waiting for this, make sure your control panel is connected to WiFi, if you haven’t already done so.
- Once your camera has connected, click ‘Live Video’. It may take a couple of minutes to load, and then you’ll see live footage. Adjust the position of the camera until you’re happy with the view it captures.
- To add another video camera, go to the ‘Video’ tab and click ‘Settings‘.
Video Motion Alerts
Installation
You can enable video motion detection (VMD) on your indoor or outdoor video cameras, to record clips around 40 seconds long when it detects motion.
To set up VMD:
- Login to morepork.nz/portal using your username and password you set up and purchase
- Click ‘Video’ then ‘Settings’
- Click on ‘Video Motion Detection’
- Customise your motion detection settings, we recommend:
Sensitivity – this is how sensitive your motion detection is. We recommend setting it to 5 to start with.
Target size – this is the percentage of the VMD window that needs to change before it will record. Depending on the size of your window, this might take a bit of trial and error – the smaller the window, the larger you should make the target size, to prevent too many false motion recordings.
Window size – this is the area the motion detection will record light changes in. We recommend drawing windows only where there shouldn’t be movement. (i.e. for an outdoor camera, exclude adding a window on a tree, as there will be a lot of light changes). - Click ‘Save‘
Please note:
- Your video cameras will never trigger an alarm, even with motion detection enabled.
- Motion detection on your video cameras is a lot more sensitive than an image sensor and may respond to light changes. We recommend you test it out and update your settings to ensure you are recording only what you want and don’t run out of storage.
Important – you must also add a recording schedule – without this, your motion detection won’t record anything.
- Click ‘Recording Schedules’ at the top of the screen
- Click ‘Add Schedule‘
- Click ‘Video Motion Detection‘
- Set up your recording schedule time frame, delay, at home settings and recipients.
Adding a recipient will ensure someone will be notified if any motion is detected. We recommend you setup push notifications so you can be alerted to your phone. See here for details. - Click ‘Save Schedule’
Your video motion alerts are now all setup! Remember, you can change the sensitivity of your motion detection and update your recording schedules at any time.
